Noko Jeans is a story told through jeans. Noko Jeans began with an e-mail sent to North Korea in July, 2007, fueled by the enthusiasim of being able to contact the country directly. They thought Noko Jeans would end there, before it even began. It didn’t. Instead, and despite their lack of experience in international trading, or fashion, it swiftly grew to a much more serious level. The next step of Noko Jeans will be to keep telling the story of what happened so far and what will happen in the future: more jeans, a new collection including other types of clothes and many other exciting things.

• This is a controversial matter and we at Aplace are aware of the various perspectives on dealing with a closed country like North Korea. But we believe in Noko Jeans and their micro-perspective idea to start a dialogue with people in North Korea through and about jeans.
