Deadwood

Few garments have such an icon status as the leather jacket. Combined with jeans and white t-shirt via the punk movement, today it's a safe go-to jacket for almost all of us - despite those rough connotations and the smell of revolt. Stockholm based Deadwood make classic leather jackets from recycled leather. Now they're available for both adults and their kids.

It's hard to find that perfect leather jacket. They're often super expensive, it takes some time before it's soft and comfortable to wear - and producing a new leather jacket creates more than 440 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. Luckily, we now have Deadwood.

Carl Ollson and Felix von Bahder met during 2012 when they worked in the same jeans shop in Stockholm. They founded Deadwood and decided to focus on sustainable fashion. They're using recycled leather to produce new leather jackets in vintage styles.

The thought of doing leather jackets for children has existed for a while, and now they've finally done it. The jackets come in two sizes: for 3 and 5 years. Ollson says: "I thought it would be great if you could wear a Deadwood jacket no matter if you're 3 or 63 years old."

The collection includes a classic biker, a warmer lined jacket and a vest.

Inside Sandqvist

The Swedish bag manufacturer Sandqvist is releasing a new series during SS17. It's a more fashion forward type of collection than the rest of Sandqvist's classic bags.

Sandqvist was founded 2004 in Stockholm by Anton Sandqvist together with his brother Daniel Sandqvist and Sebastian Westin. They create bags with a classic, uncomplicated and functional design. The inspiration comes from the Nordic landscape with its forests, rivers and vast unpopulated areas - as well as the urban city life. This spring they're launching KEOS, a series of bags that, according to Westin, is Sandqvist's most fashion forward right now. Inspiration for the KEOS design is found in the summer nights of Stockholm - the explosion of colors you see when walking home from the club, just when the night turns into day. The series consists of four different designs in two colors, willow green with light pink lining and black with cobalt blue lining. Westin states that the KEOS bags have the same smart features that define Sandqvist as a brand.

Stine's Ark

Stine Goya has designed draped garments in amazing color scales for ten years. At APLACE, we've always liked her creations and are very happy to have her clothes in our stores and online again.

Traditional Scandinavian design, functional and simple, is nothing for Stine Goya. She is rather inspired by bold expressions that pushes the limit.

Stine Goya's Pre Fall 2017, L'arche de Noé, is inspired by the Biblical myth of Noah's Ark. The colors goes from creme to ginger, cedar, gold and cowslip-yellow. We can't wait to embark upon her ark and sail away with giraffes, zebras and antilopes embroidered in gold.

Creative Minds

Hope's spring collection is inspired by artist's studios and working clothes, where the uniform becomes a starting point for creation. Hope has also introduced a new way of labeling their clothes by having each garment labeled with both women's and men's size. This is a step torwards a less gender-normative way of seeing fashion. New Breed SS17

New Breed is APLACE’s recurring pop up project, where we let upcoming designers and brands show and sell their collections at APLACE. For spring and summer 2017, we're introducing OFFICIAL GALLERY, Berggren Studio and Johannes Adele.

OFFICIAL GALLERY is mostly known for their monochrome and simplistic hoodies. Jesper Lindgren and Teodor, the founders of OFFICIAL GALLERY, describes this as the essence of the brand: minimalism that meets street. OFFICIAL GALLERY is not just a brand though, it's also an art project where they make collabs with artists within crafts, photography and music. One of the most highlighted collabs is probably the yellow rain jacket they created for the music festival 30 days in LA, that Cherrie was the front figure for. Read the interview in Swedish here!

Founder of Berggren Studio is Swedish designer Tove Berggren, that has a degree from both Swedish Konstfack and Norwegian Konstakademien. She’s been working with Minimarket, Henrik Vibskov and House of Dagmar before she founded Berggren Studio. Tove Berggren’s inspiration comes from reflection and fascination - everything from questioning what nationality and borders are, to traveling and discovering new places. Read the interview in Swedish here!

Behind Johannes Adele is Swedish Johannes Leijonberg and French Adèle Gillardeau. They met during an internship at Ann Demeulemeester and created their brand together afterwards. The style is a combination of Swedish minimalist and French refined design. All of the clothes are unisex - they are a couple also in private, and since they've always shared their clothes they saw no point in dividing the clothes that they are creating.
