A Space for Collab

Manér is moving in!

We share our space and present the local brand Manér online and in our Malmö store.

It started with our second hand venture in Malmö and Stockholm and PEARL moving in to APLACE Brunogallerian. It made us reflect on the concept of making room for others in need of space. And right now artists and designers need it more then ever. That’s why we now let the Malmö-based clothing brand Manér and their tailor-made garments move in online and physically in our store in Malmö!

Denim, shirts, jackets and corduroy pants are just some of the products the brand produces from their studio in Malmö. They combine design with a demand for quality in both production and materials. The three friends, Adrian Roos, Jama Warsame and Ernesto Prosperi founded the company whilst Adrian was running the label Bespoke (jeans made in Rosengård Malmö) and Jama and Ernesto were running a leather-based accessories’ brand.

Tell us about the factory in Malmö and the materials you work with.

– Our factory in Malmö mainly produces for our own brand Manér. But we also offer production for other companies, such as industrial sewing and clothing sewing. When it comes to our own brand, we only use natural materials and fabrics containing only one fiber, because mixing fibers makes the garments hard to recycle and therefor highly unsustainable.

How do you wish other brands should work more sustainably?

– We would like to see more brands moving away from large mass production and focusing on smaller better productions. We now have the opportunity to show that you actually can produce in Sweden!

How do you take care of your clothes in the best way?

– Avoid washing until necessary and when you do wash, follow the guide lines. Avoid unnecessary chemicals such as rinse aid. Also, keep in mind that natural aging often just makes the garments look nicer.

What does your home office look like? What do you wear when you work from home?

– The only person who works from home is Ernesto, he has a mobile office. He can work from a coffee house, in our factory or at his home office. He likes to wear a pair of loose denim Big Joe’s and a T-shirt underneath an open Omar shirt.

How do you think the fashion industry will evolve and change after Corona?

– We believe that the global development will shift towards the country’s domestic industries. We have been very global in recent decades, which has given us many opportunities in terms of trade but also made us vulnerable. With a situation like Corona, this is re-evaluated, and we believe that you again will see the value in having local industries. When it comes to the textile industry, we hope that the volume of production that we have had in recent times will decrease drastically. We also believe that the industry will move away from seasonal collections.

And what do you hope for?

– That we do not fall back into old habits, such as over-consumption.
