How did Last Resort AB start?

– You could say that Last Resort AB started us, after working for venture capitalists and corporate scumbags, it was time to make something new, we live and learn constantly and hope to inspire others to do the same. Right now we are three skateboarders and a left-handed guitarist.

Tell about the meaning of the name. What do you see as the last resort?

– Last Resort AB is a platform for our creativity. Purely symbolic for the “Resort Staff”, it is an idea, a journey, a dream and maybe a final destination. The journey takes place both physically and mentally. We can provide clues and context but ultimately it is up to the beholder to fill it with significance.

Pontus Alv is a part of the Last Resort crew and he also has the clothing brand Polar Skate Co. Is it kind of the same vibe in the Polar-clothes as in the new shoes of yours? And why did you end up making sneakers?

– We have two models out now, the “3-3-20 Index” and the “Zero-One”. We try to create timeless products that last, which can be used in several different contexts, which can have different meanings depending on who is wearing the shoes. We have similar references from our upbringings as skateboarders, which of course characterizes the design and the parameters around the details. One of our key words is “Intention to detail”.

How do you view sustainability and in what way are your sneakers durable?

– Our products are durable in two different ways – in the sense of the word but also when it comes to volume. If you go to a mega-corp company and ask that question, they will start chatting about materials and technical solutions etc. However, in the end it is not sustainable to produce one billion garments. We are sustainable because we are small and produce few and very good products.

The ‘BREAK FREE spirit’, what is it about and what do we need to break away from?

– Bigotry, enviousness, jealousy, a failed system, a bad relationship, your own mind?
